THE FIRST vessel to dock at Broome’s new floating wharf arrives today [9 September].
The MV Frauke is scheduled to arrive carrying the KMSB Crane.
Following that, smaller cruise vessels will begin arriving from 13 September onwards.
Livestock carriers for cattle vessels will start arriving in the next seven days.
The first medium cruise vessel of more than 180 to 220+ meters will arrive on 17 September, and the next on 21 September.
The opening of the wharf has been an eight-year project, finally given official sanction by the Kimberley Ports Authority Harbour Master, allowing it to start accepting vessels.
The terminal can accommodate a wide range of vessels, including small and large cruise ships, roll-on roll-off (RoRo) cargo vessels, small container ships, and general cargo vessels.
The heavy-lift high-performance crane arriving today can lift more than 120 tonnes with a 49-metre reach.
