AN “OUTSTANDING contribution” to both industrial and tourism growth seen GeelongPort chief executive Brett Winter honoured with the Connectivity Award at the Future Geelong Leadership Awards.
The award focused upon Mr Winter’s key role in securing the Spirit of Tasmania terminal for Geelong.
This achievement has strengthened Geelong’s position as a key gateway, connecting the region to the nation and the world.
Judges praised Mr Winter as “a highly respected leader” and a passionate advocate for Geelong, noting his vision and commitment to building a stronger future for the city.
Under his leadership, GeelongPort was said to have has embraced strategic development and sustainability, setting global standards while delivering transformative projects that benefit the community and economy.
“Leadership in Geelong is about vision – about having the courage to transform,” Mr Winter said.
“I’m honoured to receive this award, but it’s truly a reflection of the incredible team at GeelongPort and the partnerships we’ve built across the region.
“Together, we’re creating opportunities that make Geelong stronger, more connected, and ready for the future.”
The Future Geelong Leadership Awards celebrate people and organisations shaping “the next chapter” for the region.
Committee for Geelong chief executive Michael Johnstone highlighted the breadth of leadership showcased this year, from grassroots community champions to major business leaders, all contributing to a vibrant and resilient city.
