THE Freight & Trade Alliance has announced the appointment of Tony Vinson, bringing its team of licensed customs brokers to five.

FTA now represents more than 420 international trade entities, including some of Australia’s largest importers and freight forwarders and through its secretariat role of the Australian Peak Shippers Association, represents major exporters and trade associations.

Mr Vinson comes with a wealth of business, international freight and logistics experience as the founder and two decade lead of an international freight forwarding business.

His move to a full time role at FTA will further strengthen the organisation’s value proposition for all FTA and Australian Peak Shippers Association members in a newly created national role as FTA’s head of international freight and logistics.

Paul Zalai, director of FTA said, “Tony comes with a wealth of experience as the founder and two decade leader of an international freight forwarding business adding further strength to our team as we continue our national lead on international shipping and airfreight reform”.

Mr Vinson said, “Complexity of landside logistics at our ports combined with limitations in air and sea cargo capacity are having significant adverse commercial impacts for our diverse membership.

“I look forward to making an important contribution that will see our sector of commerce and the broader Australian economy prosper in the years ahead.”

Based in Brisbane, Mr Vinson will also have the additional responsibility as FTA’s regional representative interfacing with key stakeholders and Queensland based members.

Mr Vinson commenced his new role on 1 March.
