THE Maritime Union of Australia issued Patrick Terminals a notice of protected industrial action for its Port Botany terminal.

This notice comes on the heels of two other PIA notices for Patrick terminals at Brisbane and Fremantle.

The latest notice includes a ban on overtime work and working shift extensions at Port Botany for 14 days from 6am Thursday 20 May.

In a notice to customers, Patrick Terminals said it continues to work towards a solution with the MUA that is “fair and reasonable for all parties”.

“We are once again disappointed in the MUA’s approach in taking PIA at this stage in the discussions,” the company said.

“Patrick Terminals will continue to work closely with customers to ensure continuity of the supply chain particularly given the strong import and export demand at our Sydney terminal. Our business is committed to minimising the impact on our customers and our commercial team will proactively work with our customers to minimise any disruptions.”

The union has been contacted for comment.
