HEATING, air-conditioning and refrigeration specialists Kirby and Beijer Ref Australia have committed to a 10-year lease on a new $48m purpose-built industrial property at Altitude, Bankstown Airport.

According to a company press release, the move is said to highlight the shift in the industry to increased focus on combining manufacturing and distribution facilities.

The new 22,000-square-metre purpose built manufacturing and distribution centre on Tower Road, Bankstown Airport will be situated on a 40,000m2 site.

It is to include 1400m2 of office space for Kirby and Beijer Ref Australia‘s headquarters.

The development is managed by Altis Property Partners and owned by Bankstown Airport Limited.

Key features of the new distribution centre include a 5-star green star design, which is to include a 250 kilowatt solar panel installation and a 50,000 litre rainwater harvesting system.

Kirby and Beijer Ref Australia director of operations Paul Campbell said the new facility would help deliver their business objectives and praised TM Insight’s contribution.

“We needed a proven technical partner who could guide us from design and concept to commissioning, and moving in,” Mr Campbell said.

“TM Insight’s experience in end-to-end design, property procurement and delivery solution helped us bring our vision to life.”

TM Insight will now also project manage the building of the new facility with Altis Property Partners.

TM Insight director of projects Adam McDonald said the facility would “revolutionise” Kirby and Beijer Ref Australia’s operations.

“This new development will enhance the service offering to their customers and allow for greater operational efficiencies by consolidating the workplace into a single building with sustainable practices,” he said.

Altis Property Partners project director Joseph Ajaka said they were excited to kick off Altitude with Kirby, a brand with strong ties to the south western industrial market.

Kirby was bought by a global Swedish refrigeration and air-conditioning manufacturing/distribution business Beijer Ref AB in May 2018.
