LOGISTICS business QUBE Bulk has been servicing the DeGrussa copper mine, 900km north-east of Perth for the past seven years.

On 10 May, the company reached a milestone with a total of more than two million tonnes of ore hauled during that period.

Qube’s mine to ship service includes haulage and loading of direct shipping ore and copper concentrate for the Sandfire Resources-owned mine.

It does this using its patented Rotabox technology.

The company issued a statement congratulating the team from DeGrussa Copper Mine and Sandfire Resources on the achievement.

“We are proud to work in partnership with you to ensure efficient, timely and safe operations,” Qube said in a statement.

The Rotabox system combines the use of a rotating frame (designed and built by Qube) and purpose-designed bulk containers with lockable lids to ensure zero fugitive dust emissions.

This enables ores and concentrates to be loaded into sealed containers, transported to port, stored securely and ultimately rotated into a ship’s hold.

Rotabox alleviates the need for bulk storage sheds, conveyors and ship loaders and requires no other fixed infrastructure other than a berth.
