VICTORIA’s Department of Transport and Planning has a new chief, with the current Deputy Secretary of Transport Services Fiona Adamson elevated to the leadership position.
Ms Adamson is taking over from Jeroen Weimar, who has had a storied career in the Victorian Public Service, having commenced as Secretary of the DTP in 27 January 2025, after previous roles as Deputy Secretary of Housing Statement Implementation within the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Head of Transport Services at the Department of Transport, CEO of VicRoads and CEO of Public Transport Victoria.
He was previously chief operating officer of Transport for London and also led Victoria’s operational response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including testing and vaccination.
Ms Adamson has played a vital role in directing Victoria's public transit, road infrastructure, network operations and customer experience frameworks, the government says. Previously she has held key executive roles within Public Transport Victoria and Transport for Victoria, leveraging a 15-year commercial background at Foxtel in customer operations and management.
Ms Adamson will start as Secretary of DTP tomorrow [28 August] “and will play a critical role in advising and supporting the Government to deliver the ongoing transformation of the transport network, Victoria's integrated transport, planning, and housing portfolio to manage daily network operations, deliver generational projects and drive critical development reforms”.
Premier Ben Carroll welcomed Ms Adamson and thanked Mr Weimar for his contribution to the Victorian public service.
“I congratulate Fiona Adamson on her appointment,” Mr Carroll said. “She brings substantial knowledge of the transport sector and her leadership will be important as DTP continues to manage Victoria’s transport network, deliver generational infrastructure projects and drive critical planning, housing and development reforms.
