New system boosts turnarounds, client claims

BRISBANE container freight station Portgate Logistics believes the introduction of a new digital platform has had an immediate effect on the facility’s performance.

The depot, located within the Port of Brisbane, has implemented the Inbound Connect system, designed to tackle long truck queues and futile (wasted) truck trips.

Portgate Logistics says it has already slashed turnaround times by more than 90 minutes per truck on average: drivers only arrive when there’s capacity available, all documents are in order and freight is customs-clear, which removes delays and reduces frustration for both drivers and depot staff. It also automates payment processes, which is another time and cost saver.

Portgate Logistics MD John Tzaneros said the results had exceeded expectations.

“The difference in just a few days has been incredible. It’s simple to use, and everyone — staff and transport operators — adapted quickly. We probably should have made the move sooner, but we're very glad we did,” Mr Tzaneros said.

Inbound Connect also automates compliance with Australian Border Force licencing rules, verifying arriving drivers quickly and accurately, and replaces paper-based forms with a fully digital workflow.

Luke Duffy, CEO of Inbound Connect, said the platform helps CFS depots and other logistics facilities work more efficiently, and that is particularly evident at Portgate Logistics.

“We’re proud to see such amazing results at Portgate Logistics so quickly — solving these long-standing problems is exactly what the platform was designed to do,” he said. “With the platform now part of daily operations, Portgate Logistics expects even more improvements in scheduling, efficiency, and overall supply chain performance.”

Inbound Connect is now used by more than 100 logistics facilities in Australia, NZ and Singapore to solve longstanding problems such as those outlined, and is growing quickly as more facilities understand the benefits, he said.
