PACIFIC National has begun operating a new intermodal terminal in Kalgoorlie, strengthening east–west freight capacity and adding new regional handling capability on the Trans‑Australian corridor.

The company has not issued a formal media release, but activity on its LinkedIn channels confirms the site is now active, with recruitment underway for terminal operators and support roles.

The new facility is expected to streamline wagon movements, improve turnaround times and support growing volumes between Perth, Kalgoorlie and the eastern states.

Pacific National has been expanding its WA footprint over the past 18 months, including upgrades to its Forrestfield operations and additional long‑haul service capacity.

The Kalgoorlie terminal adds a strategically located inland node at a time of rising intermodal demand and tightening rail‑freight schedules across the Nullarbor.

Industry observers say the new site positions Pacific National to capture more regional freight and improve resilience during periods of network disruption.
