AUSTRALIAN port agency Monson has acquired Aranui Shipping, a shipping agency based in New Zealand.
A statement from Monson said Aranui would bring a diverse client base of owners and charterers to the Monson group.
“[The acquisition will build] on our scale and international network and enhancing our customer service offering,” the company said.
“The completion of this acquisition will provide an additional volume of ships to the group, a larger network of company owned offices and additional exposure to new charterers, allowing Monson to cross-market more ports as we look to provide and promote our unique end to end service offering.”
The company welcomed Aruni leaders Veronica Syman and Nici Kennerley. Monson said the two would remain operating the business day-to-day.
Monson is headquartered in Fremantle and has offices in most significant bulk ports in Australia.
The company also has offices in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore.
Monson was founded in 1981 and specialises in bulk commodities such as coal, iron ore, alumina, caustic soda, mineral sands and grains.
