TASPORTS and Mission to Seafarers in Hobart have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote seafarer welfare services at the port.
TasPorts said the MoU formalises its working relationship with the charity and establishes a support framework to deliver and improve seafarer welfare services in Hobart.
This MoU focuses on the shore-based welfare facility in Hobart, but TasPorts said work is underway to finalise similar agreements with other MtS chapters in Devonport, Burnie and Bell Bay.
“The MoU … strengthens operational support for the charity, recognising our mutual interest and shared commitment to provide seafarer welfare services in Hobart through the shore-based seafarer welfare facility,” TasPorts said.
“TasPorts supports the mission’s goals through financial and in-kind support, as well as promotion of their services to all visiting vessels.
“As operators of eleven ports across Tasmania, TasPorts plays an important role in supporting the seafarers that visit our multi-port system and works closely with the Mission to Seafarers.”
