LOGISTICS giant Qube has opened the first stage of its new reefer terminal at Moorebank Intermodal Terminal in Sydney.

Marking another step in the evolution of Qube’s IMEX terminal within the Moorebank Intermodal Precinct, the reefer terminal holds 220 slots.

Qube Logistics general manager for NSW Jack Moore said on Monday (8 December) the company was delighted to officially declare the new reefer terminal officially open for business.

“The terminal boasts 220 safe and clean slots and is available now to importers and exporters,” Mr Moore said.

“The completion of the first phase of this project is another major milestone in the ongoing evolution of the IMEX.

“It provides importers and exporters state-of-the-art and energy efficient storage and handling, with direct and efficient linkages to up-country rail services and Port Botany, via a dedicated freight line."

Mr Moore said this was "another demonstration of the critical role the IMEX [terminal] is playing in revolutionising freight efficiencies and strengthening supply linkages for customers".

On November 24, the board of Qube Holdings unanimously recommended shareholders accept a $5.20 cash per share takeover offer from Macquarie Asset Management that valued the business at $11.6 billion.
