Queensland refreshes port boards

THE QUEENSLAND Government has announced a number of new appointments to the boards overseeing state-owned ports.

Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the critical role of the State’s port GOCs was backed by the Crisafulli Government’s record investment across the transport sector.

“Strong management of our ports is essential to creating jobs across regional Queensland, strengthening our supply chains, and securing new trade and investment opportunities,” Minister Mickelberg said.

There are many familiar names amongst the appointees.

At Gladstone Ports Corporation, Debbie Leis has been appointed Director.

At North Queensland Bulk Ports Grant Gilfillan is the new Chair, while Melinda Hashimoto, Lachlan Millar and Kelly Newton are new Dircetors.

Peter Court is the new Chair of the Port of Townsville, while Ben Kidston ,Stephen Motti, Carla Polson, Scott Stewart and Heidi Turner have all joined the Board as Directors.

Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates welcomed the new appointees, and thanked outgoing chairs and board members for their service.

“These new board members come from across our State and bring expertise and perspectives to our GOCs from a diversity of backgrounds – including finance, government, agriculture, logistics, mining, engineering, and the law,” Minister Bates said.
