THE SHIPPING & Logistics Charity Golf Day is getting closer to hitting an extraordinary $1 million for the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation (SCHF).
This year’s event will be held on 24 October at Long Reef Golf Course, with players from across the shipping and logistics community set to take to the fairways for a day of sport, networking, and fundraising.
Organisers say the field is filling fast, though a limited number of sponsorships, hole sponsorships and the lunch refreshment sponsorship remain available.
The day also features a popular networking lunch, where participants will connect off the course as well as hear from some of the families who have benefited from the funds raised over the years.
At last year's lunch, Lisa Larkin — whose son, Thanasi, underwent four rounds of chemotherapy in the first 3 months of his life — told those present that the research into childhood cancer, funded by events like the golf day, is imperative.
"Companies like yourselves who support events like this golf day, year in and year out, may not know or understand the impact your donations have in this very moment, nor would I wish that upon you, but on behalf of the families and children who have suffered (or are still suffering) because of childhood cancer, we thank you." she said.
The Shipping & Logistics Charity Golf Day has become a highlight on the industry calendar, uniting companies and individuals for a worthy cause — and in a first for Daily Cargo News, the company is entering an all-female team into the 2025 competition.
