SWIRE Shipping has opened its own office in Dili, Timor-Leste, taking over representation previously provided by agency partner CEVA Logistics.
Swire says the move marks a significant milestone in the company's continued investment in South East Asia and reinforcing its long-term commitment to one of the region's emerging markets.
The new office will be led by Darry Tan, who has spent the past two years on the ground in Timor-Leste working closely with CEVA.
“Darry's extensive local market knowledge and established customer relationships position the new team to deliver seamless service continuity and enhanced support to customers across the country,” the company said.
“Swire Shipping is also pleased to welcome a number of experienced personnel who will transition from CEVA Logistics to the new branch office. Their operational expertise and longstanding relationships with local customers will help ensure continuity, while strengthening Swire Shipping's direct presence in the market.”
The opening of the Dili office reflects Swire Shipping's confidence in Timor-Leste's economic potential and growing importance within the region following its accession to ASEAN in October 2025.
“Timor-Leste is an exciting market with strong long-term growth prospects,” Randy Selvaratnam, chief commercial officer, said.
“Establishing our own office in Dili demonstrates our commitment to supporting local customers and contributing to the country's development as it deepens its integration with the regional economy. By combining local expertise with Swire Shipping's global network, we are well positioned to deliver even greater value to our customers.”
