NEW Zealand’s MOVe Logistics Group has appointed a new general manager to its Oceans division, with effect from 13 April.

The company announced Mike Brough has been appointed as the new MOVe Oceans leader, saying he brings a strong track record of extensive general management and international freight forwarding experience across export and import sea freight, projects, customs and business leadership, with senior roles at Mainfreight, GDF NZ, Gilco International Freight, and First Logistics.

His appointment follows the resignation of Anthony Browne, who was an important contributor to the successful pilot of MOVe’s trans-Tasman shipping service. “We wish Anthony well for the future,” the company said.

Mr Browne, who had been in the position for almost two-and-a-half years, has also previously worked for Mainfreight plus LEP International, Chemcarriers and Agility, as well as founding Brothers Brewery in 2012.

MOVe Oceans operates the multi-purpose vessel Brio Faith on a monthly cycle between Australia in NZ, with the latest schedule showing a port rotation of Marsden Point, Tauranga, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, Bell Bay, Brisbane, Townsville and Port Alma. The service also calls Newcastle and non-scheduled ports upon inducement.

The 9,000 DWT, 630 TEU Brio Faith is fitted with 2 x 40t cranes and, the company says, is ideal for breakbulk and project cargoes, eliminating the time and costs associated with containerisation.

MOVe has had the Chinese-owned ship on charter since early 2024, when it replaced the smaller, now scrapped, Atlas Wind.
