WALLENIUS Wilhelmsen has secured a local logistics contract with a large (unnamed) automotive manufacturer expected to generate revenues in excess of USD100 million.

Under the deal WW will deliver vehicle processing services for the automotive company in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, the company said in an Oslo Stock Exchange announcement late last week.

“We are happy to sign this contract and look forward to providing our customer greater control over their wider logistics value chain. We look forward to the collaboration and expanding our footprint in Oceania,” said Pia Synnerman, WW CCO said.

The contract duration is for 3+1 years. WW said the agreement is expected to generate revenues in excess of USD100 million over the period under the assumption that the one-year mutual option is declared.

Meanwhile, Jed Smith, formerly the head of commercial and stakeholder management at the WW-owned Melbourne International RoRo and Automotive Terminal (MIRRAT), has been appointed as WW’s vice president Logistics (Oceania).

The sale of MIRRAT to Qube’s Australian Amalgamated Terminals was completed in May for a price of $332.5 million, after the ACCC on 10 April finally approved the transaction subject to a new court-enforceable undertaking.
