DIGITAL freight and logistics platform Ofload has yesterday (5 May) announced the appointment of Dean Newman as its new chief operating officer.

Mr Newman joins Ofload following 30 years in the supply chain sector, where most recently he served as director of primary connect and innovation at Woolworths Group, overseeing one of Australia’s largest retail supply chain networks.

“Under his leadership, Primary Connect served more than 1100 external customers and generated hundreds of millions in revenue annually,” according to Ofload.

Ofload said the appointment would strengthen the company’s executive team “as it enters its next stage of growth and national scale”.

The company remarked that in his time at Woolworths, Mr Newman was instrumental in leading the design and launch of a national award-winning digital trading platform, helping the Woolworths Group secure recognition for technology-led business innovation.

He was also involved in “large-scale” commercial and digital transformation initiatives that significantly improved operational agility and customer outcomes across a high-volume logistics environment, the company said.

The Australian company said Mr Newman’s appointment reinforces its credibility as the technology-led disruptor in freight logistics, and underpins the company’s readiness to scale with enterprise-grade operational leadership.

Commenting on Dean’s appointment, Geoffroy Henry, founder and CEO of Ofload, said “Dean’s appointment marks a significant milestone in Ofload’s journey”.

“He brings unmatched industry insight, deep operational experience, and a proven track record in both digital transformation and execution.

“Dean’s leadership will be instrumental to our continued growth and development.”

Dean Newman, incoming COO of Ofload, said “Ofload is reshaping the future of freight; combining technology, sustainability and commercial agility in a way few others have”.

“I’m excited to join at such a pivotal time and help drive the next phase of growth, as we scale nationally to deliver smarter, faster, and more sustainable freight outcomes for the businesses and carriers who rely on us.”

Mr Newman is also a former president and chair of the Australasian Supply Chain Institute.
