The Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) is hosting its 2022 annual conference in the vibrant regional centre of Wagga Wagga, New South Wales.
Caroline Zalai, APSA Secretariat says the event on 22 and 23 February 2022 will provide a valued opportunity for industry to re-unite after nearly two years of significant restrictions and lengthy periods of border closures. “The Conference will provide an important opportunity for the export community to discuss issues and develop solutions in getting our Australian products to market efficiently and effectively. By holding the event in Wagga Wagga, APSA is supporting the Riverina region, one of our key agricultural areas.
The event’s Welcome Function, sponsored by the Committee 4 Wagga, will be hosted at the exclusive Riverine Club and will set the scene for what will be a tremendous two days of networking for our members and guests”
“We are extremely grateful to all event sponsors, notably BSM Global as our major sponsor and strategic sponsorship from the NSW Government – Destination NSW who we are working with to encourage delegates to stay beyond the conference to support the region and enjoy all the marvels the Riverina region has to offer”.
The event program includes a site tour of the Riverina Intermodal Freight & Logistics (RIFL) Hub sponsored by the City of Wagga Wagga and focussed sessions with expert presenters from across commerce and government.
Olga Harriton, Global Supply Chain Manager, Manildra Group and APSA Chair, sees this as being a critically important event for the sector “It is time for Australian exporters to unite, learn from each other and collectively advocate for essential reform to shipping practices”.
“We look forward to facilitating interactive discussions where we will examine
- whether current rail reforms and our port interface is ready to support growth of rural exports;
- whether market forces will deliver intermodal, port and shipping capacity to meet the needs of exporters;
- geopolitical tensions, biosecurity threats, vessel availability and freight rates
- thought leadership on what strategies are required to diversify markets and safeguard our sector of commerce”
