STEVEN Ballerini’s decision to quit as chief executive of the Australian Supply Chain and Logistics Association has been attributed to family commitments and the increasing demands of the role.

Mr Ballerini was appointed as ASCLA’s inaugural CEO a year ago.

Replacing him is Rakesh Bandipelli.

ASCLA chair Stephen Lakey said, “Steve’s strong leadership, exceptional work ethic and commitment to the association have been instrumental in building a solid foundation for future growth and success”.

“We are grateful for everything he has achieved and wish him every success in the future,” Mr Lakey said.

“On behalf of the board and the wider ASCLA community, we sincerely thank Steve for his dedication, leadership and lasting contribution.”

Rakesh Bandipelli is said to bring almost a decade of experience with ASCLA to the role as well as an extensive background in supply chain and technology.

His longstanding relationships with members, volunteers and division presidents are expected to be an asset.

Stephen Lakey welcomed the announcement and said it boded well for the future of ASCLA.

“I am confident that Rakesh has the insight, experience and drive to build on the strong foundations we have established and lead ASCLA through its next phase of growth,” Mr Lakey said.

Mr Ballerini also had high praise for Mr Bandipelli’s appointment.

“Rakesh knows our volunteers, partners and members well, and he has earned their respect, which matters enormously for an organisation that relies on goodwill and shared effort,” he said.

Mr Bandipelli said his appointment was a chance to “build on nearly a decade with the association”.

“I wanted to thank Steven Ballerini for his leadership and the strong foundations he has helped build,” Mr Bandipelli said.
