BASS Strait shipping as well as broader export topics will be on the agenda at the upcoming Tasmanian Freight & Logistics Forum in Hobart.

To be held at the University of Tasmania on Wednesday 22 April, the event is back for its sixth year, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers and exporters to tackle the challenges and opportunities shaping Tasmania’s freight and supply chains.

A presentation from the Department of Infrastructure on the fuel crisis and its impact on Tasmanian shippers and the broader logistics sector is sure to be relevant.

Politicians presenting include:
•    Minister Kerry Vincent MLC (Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Minister for Local Government, and Minister for Housing and Planning).
•    Senator Tammy Tyrrell (past chair of the Tasmanian Freight Equalisation Scheme Committee).
•    Anthony Chisholm (Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry).

Tasmanian representative for the Freight and Trade Alliance and the Australian Peak Shippers Association, Brett Charlton,"said while Tasmania enjoyed "a gold star shipping and logistics service for an island economy, the ever evolving world of trade demands that a strong focus on developments in the industry remains essential".

"This forum provides a platform to explore solutions that strengthen the state’s trade links and ensure supply chains remain resilient," Mr Charlton said.

Freight & Trade Alliance director Paul Zalai said with global supply chains under pressure, the forum “is essential for anyone moving goods in and out of Tasmania”.

“It is an opportunity to share insights, highlight opportunities, and shape the future of the state’s freight networks,” Mr Zalai said.
