DANISH transport and logistics company DSV has handed down its latest financial results, hailing what it said was “increased organic gross profit in a challenging and volatile market”.

Key financial statistics for the second quarter of 2025 were listed as:

  • Organically gross profit was up 2.4%
  • EBIT before special items was down 4.6% in Q2 2025 compared with the same period last year.
  • Positive earnings growth in air & sea, while road and contract logistics still saw lower earnings than last year.

For air and sea combined, “strong organic development” was recorded in gross profit and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT), up more than 9% compared with last year.

Meanwhile there was improved organic profitability driven by higher underlying yields, supported by growth in value added services and organic volume growth in sea freight.

“Overall gross profit yields decreased due to inclusion of Schenker,” DSV stated.

“We will work on improving the profitability through synergies and optimisation of the network and procurement.”

Total air freight volumes grew 46% with organic volume growth reported as “slightly below the addressable market adjusted for exit of low-yielding volume”.

Gross profit also improved by 9% compared with last year, with a 12% increase in the average yield.

“We have started combining the air freight networks, enabling us to optimise operations, launch new trade lanes and consolidate suppliers,” the company said in a statement.

Sea freight volumes grew 43% compared with last year, “close to the estimated market growth”, according to the company.

“The positive performance was achieved despite highly fluctuating demand and capacity adjustments due to uncertainties around US tariffs,” DSV reported.

An important component of DSV’s recent results has been the acquisition of Schenker from Deutsche Bahn, providing greater market share.

DSV described the results as a “stable financial performance” in challenging conditions.
