RECENT bushfires and floods have prompted action by freight forwarder Globelink International which is seeking to raise money for those impacted.
“With widespread disruption affecting communities, customers, and supply chains, Globelink identified an opportunity to turn everyday freight movements into meaningful support for relief and recovery efforts as the news coupled with climate change is that there is more to come,” Ms McCombie said.
“As a business that operates at the heart of Australia’s supply chain, we see firsthand how natural disasters affect people and communities. This pledge allows our customers and industry partners to contribute simply by continuing to move freight and book with Globelink.”
Ms McCombie said the timing of the initiative reflected the urgency of the situation.
“With bushfires and floods occurring concurrently across multiple regions, many Australians are facing prolonged hardship,” she said. “Globelink’s pledge is designed to provide immediate and ongoing support while the crisis unfolds.”
It is not the first time Globelink has offered a helping hand.
Back in early 2020 it raised $31,704 following the Victorian bushfires.
That experience was said to have reinforced the value of collective action and the impact the freight and logistics sector could have when it mobilises quickly.
“We would love to better our last pledge however, that ran for three months currently this pledge is for the next two months,” Ms McCombie said.
“We have yet to fix a fundraising target, but the sky is the limit, and our focus is on participation and industry-wide engagement.
“We urge and welcome the support to be able to offer much-needed funds to aid in relief.”
Ms McCombie said the initiative was personal for many within the Globelink team.
“Team members have previously experienced the impacts of floods and bushfires, whether through friends and family who have had their homes damaged, affected communities, or disrupted livelihoods,” she said.
“In some way we all have felt the impact of these disasters which resonates with so many of us for many reasons but we can help and Globelink wants to help.”
