FOUNDER and chief executive of Intermodal Terminal Company (ITC) Mishkel Maharaj is to speak at an ICHCA Victoria lunch in Melbourne next week.

ITC is Australia’s only independent owner and operator of Intermodal Terminals.

Mr Maharaj is expected to speak about ITC’s aims of building a portfolio of terminals, with the first being the Melbourne Intermodal Terminal (MIT).

MIT is a multi-purpose terminal that will enable the rail freight industry to grow and will support a supply-chain modal shift from road to rail.

ICHCA Australia company secretary Peter van Duyn said the session would be a rare and special opportunity to hear from a highly influential figure in the Victorian logistics sector.

“With the growing freight task in Victoria and the need for innovative solutions, we think that Mr Maharaj’s voice is one that should be heard,” Mr van Duyn said.

“We are looking forward to what should be a lively and informative session.”

The ICHCA Victoria lunch will be held at the RACV Club on Thursday 4 September.

Similar ICHCA lunches are to be held in Adelaide on 18 September (featuring Brad Weston from Aurizon) and Brisbane on 25 September with a panel of speakers made up of Marcus Oatley from Trade & Investment QLD, Michael Houen from Hatch Ports & Terminals and Desiree Alizert from Concordia & American Chamber of Commerce.
