QANTAS Freight says it is expanding the types of commodities freight forwarders can book online.
International freight forwarders can now access Qantas Freight cargo space on WebCargo for “passive temperature pharmaceutical movements” and dangers goods exempt lithium ion and lithium metal batteries.
The expansion is said to allow WebCargo customers in the US, UK and South Africa to uplift their essential medicines and DG exempt batteries, mobile phones, tablets, laptops and power tools onto Qantas Freight services to Australia and New Zealand from a single convenient platform.
Qantas Freight is also making it easier for WebCargo customers to pay for shipments.
From 22 September, US based freight forwarders can now use their FreightosPay account on WebCargo to book Qantas Freight capacity for shipments to Australia and New Zealand.
“This update streamlines the booking process and makes it easier for non-IATA freight forwarders and customers who do not yet have a Qantas Freight account to book cargo capacity on Qantas,” Qantas Freight said in a statement.
According to Qantas Freight, e-commerce demand to and from Australia continues to grow with the business’s net revenue growing 7 per cent year on year despite global trade uncertainty.
“The introduction of the Dreamliner on Qantas' Brisbane to Los Angeles services will boost Qantas Freight belly space by more than 12 per cent, creating more opportunities for US customers to uplift their products on Qantas’ commercial services to Australia,” the company stated.
