TECHNOLOGY from Australian maritime engineering company OMC International that integrates environmental data measurements and AI-enhanced forecasts has received the 'Innovation Endorsement' from classification society ClassNK.
OMC International said it was “proud to announce” that the Dynamic UKC technology (DUKC®) had received the endorsement from ClassNK, an international classification society committed to supporting sustainable maritime innovation.
According to OMC, the endorsement is said to independently affirms the role of DUKC® as a decision support technology that increases sailing drafts and windows, allowing ports to facilitate larger and deeper vessels.
DUKC has been developed and refined over three decades and according to OMC is the only real-time vessel transit management system that has maintained a perfect safety record spanning 30+ years and 240,000 transits.
OMC International chief executive Peter O’Brien said they were “honoured to receive ClassNK’s Innovation Endorsement”.
“Their certification process confirmed our system’s capability of delivering smarter and more sustainable ports and shipping,” Mr O’Brien said.
“DUKC® has evolved through continuous R&D and client-driven innovation, and this endorsement provides confidence to industry that DUKC® can be trusted to deliver safer shipping and smarter ports.”
DUKC® is currently deployed in major ports across Australia, New Zealand, Middle East, Europe, North America and South America.
According to OMC, the technology is increasingly being adopted as a critical decision support tool by port authorities and terminal operators that recognise the opportunities to enhance safety, efficiency and sustainability through the application of this technology.
OMC International remains committed to advancing maritime safety and efficiency through innovation, and this endorsement marks a significant milestone in its journey to support the global maritime industry’s transition to safer, smarter and more sustainable operations.
