INDUSTRY figures gathered in Brisbane to celebrate 20 years of automation at Patrick’s Terminals Brisbane AutoStrad Terminal.
After taking a bus to the Port of Brisbane, guests heard presentations from chief executive Michael Jovicic and Brisbane terminals manager Matt Hollamby (only interrupted by loud container movements at the nearby Qube facility) before visiting the control tower for an aerial view of the facility.
There was much talk about both the challenges and opportunities back in 2005, with the observation that they knew automation would work, albeit the question was whether it would work in an acceptable timeframe.
The event also included the announcement of a new 10-year strategic supply agreement with Kalmar, reinforcing a partnership that has been key to Australia’s leading container terminal operator for more than two decades.
After visiting the port, people got back in the bus and travelled to Customs House in the city (a building with its own connection to the movement of goods) for lunch and the chance to network and share stories.
