Increase in May throughput at PPA

PILBARA Ports Authority reported a total monthly throughput of 62.5 million tonnes of cargo during May, a 1% increase on the same month last year.

The colossus of iron ore exports, the Port of Port Hedland, handled a total of 48.6 million tonnes of cargo. This was an increase on May 2022’s throughput of less than one percent.

Of Port Hedland’s total throughput, 48.2 million tonnes was iron ore exports.

Imports through Port Hedland totalled 196,000 tonnes. This was an increase of 19% compared with the same month last year.

The Port of Dampier delivered a total throughput of 12.9 million tonnes, a 3%increase from May 2022.

Imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 98,000 tonnes, an increase of 19% from May 2022.
