PILBARA Ports Authority handled a total throughput of 64.9 million tonnes in January this year.
PPA said the latest monthly figures are a 4% increase compared with the same month last year.
The Port of Port Hedland reported a monthly throughput of 48.7 million tonnes.
Iron ore exports accounted for 48 million tonnes of Port Hedland’s throughput in January. PPA said there was no variance in total throughput compared with January last year.
Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 172,000 tonnes, an 19% increase compared with January 2022.
The Port of Dampier delivered a total throughput of 15.2 million tonnes, a 17% increase on figures reported in January last year.
And imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 122,000 tonnes. According to PPA, this was a 945% increase from the same month last year.
