YANG Ming took delivery of a new 11,000-TEU containership, YM Travel on Tuesday.

Imbari Shipbuilding built the vessel, and it is chartered from Shoei Kisen Kaisha.

YM Travel is the sixth out of 14 11,000-TEU newbuild vessels that Yang Ming has ordered through long-term charter agreements.

These vessels have a nominal capacity of 11,860 TEU and they are equipped with 1000 plugs for reefer containers.

The vessels are 333.9 metres long, 48.4 metres wide and they have a draught of 16 metres. The dimensions enable these ships to call at major ports worldwide and pass through new Panama Canal with no restriction.

The containerships incorporate various environmental features including scrubbers, water ballast treatment plants and alternative marine power systems.

Yang Ming started taking delivery of these new vessels from 2020.

YM Travel will join THE Alliance’s trans-Pacific service PS6 on 30 July. The port rotation of PS6 is Qingdao – Ningbo – Pusan – Los Angeles – Oakland – Kobe – Qingdao.
