FIVE youngsters all studying for apprenticeships at freight forwarding companies have been shortlisted in the Apprentice of the Year category for the annual Freight Service Awards competition.

The awards are organised by the British International Freight Association.

The new Apprentice of the Year category was introduced after the launch of the International Freight Forwarding Specialist Apprenticeship in April last year.

The winner of this category, along with the winners of the other ten categories, will be announced at the 30th BIFA Freight Service Awards luncheon this week hosted by double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes.

BIFA director-general Robert Keen said he was pleased at the level of interest in the new category.

“In 2018, freight apprenticeships came to the fore, and we are pleased that there has been keen interest in the new category,” he said.
