The Mumbai-based Indian Register of Shipping has focused its attention on the Greek shipping market since opening its branch in Piraeus, Greece in 2010.

IRClass is now making further strides in engaging Greek shipyard owners to accept their full range of classification services, recently certifying three ro-ro vessels for the Theodoropoulos shipyard as well as taking several other vessels into Class.

IRClass’ most recent push into Greek maritime is via their request to authorities to survey and certify all types of Greek vessels.

IRClass managing Suresh Sinha is to speak at Capital Link’s 10th Annual Greek Shipping Forum in Athens later next week where he is expected to address some of these key themes.

“The Greek maritime market is important to IRClass and our expansion strategy is to focus our services in this region due to the large concentration of ship owners,” Mr Sinha said.

“We look forward to networking and meeting with the Greek shipping community and build on the business relationships which our team in Piraeus has developed.”
