CUSTOMS broker and trade expert Kent Heazlett has been awarded a gong on the Queen’s Birthday honours list.

Mr Heazlett is the owner of Cornish International Pty Ltd and managing director of International Trade Compliance.

He was also a prominent industry representative on the National Customs Brokers Licensing Advisory Committee.

He was recognised as member (AM) in the general division for “significant service to business and international trade”.

“I am very thrilled to receive such an award,” Mr Heazlett told Daily Cargo News.

“At the same time I’m aware there are many others who have been involved with the industry over the years who are equally or more entitled to such recognition.”

One of his passions was the education of customs brokers and for a time he taught the customs course at New South Wales TAFE.

He played an important role in having the current customs brokers Continuing Professional Development training introduced.

He is also a life member of the Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia.

Mr Heazlett joins former Ports Australia chief executive David Anderson as among those to achieve recognition this year.
