THE first shipment of liquefied natural gas has sailed from Shell’s Prelude operation 475km north-east of Broome in Western Australia.

This shipment is to be delivered by the Valencia Knutsen to customers in Asia.

Valencia Knutsen (IMO 9434266) is a Spanish-flagged LNG carrier that was launched in 2010.

Shell integrated gas and new energies director Maarten Wetselaar said the first shipment department safely and without incident.

“Everyone involved should be very proud of the work taken to reach this important milestone,” Mr Wetselaar said.

“Prelude forms an integral part of our global portfolio and plays an important role in meeting the growing demand for more and cleaner energy for our customers around the world.”

Shell Australia chair Zoe Yujnovich Prelude FLNG combined human endeavour and ingenuity from across the globe and here in Australia.
