INLAND Rail acting chief executive Rebecca Pickering has left the position after serving in the role for more than two years.

Ms Pickering joined Inland Rail in 2018 and was appointed to acting chief executive in July 2021.

“Inland Rail is currently undertaking a recruitment process for a new chief executive and interim arrangements have been put in place until the position is filled,” Inland Rail said in a statement.

Ms Pickering led the company through the Australian government’s independent review of the Inland Rail project, released in April this year.

Inland Rail said she helped implement the recommendations of the review, including the creation of the new Inland Rail subsidiary.

The subsidiary, announced in July, would govern delivery of the project with its own board.
