DP World Australia Logistics is expanding into Melbourne with an on-dock rail facility, located at Dock Link Road, West Melbourne.

DPWAL said the new logistics site, with a capacity of 6000 TEU, will offer a gateway for laden and empty containers, with direct rail access. The facility will be able to handle trains up to 1100 metres long. It will be able to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Operations at the site are expected to commence in early August, and the company has a staged investment plan in place for the new facility.

DPWAL chief operating officer Ravi Sheshadri said, “DP World Australia Logistics is excited about the continued expansion of its business into Melbourne and will play a pivotal role in cargo connectivity to and from the port precinct and supporting the users of the supply chain”.
