TOTAL container throughput at Fremantle increased in February, according to the latest available trade data from Fremantle Ports.

The port handled 75,069 TEU in February this year, which was a 24% increase from the 60,375 TEU handled in the same month last year.

This was also a 7% increase on January’s 69,924 TEU.

Fremantle exported a total of 34,489 TEU in February this year, up 16% from 29,663 TEU in February 2022.

Total imports came to 40,580 TEU in February 2024 – a 32% increase compared with the same month last year, when the port handled 230,712 TEU.

The port’s coastal container trade decreased year-on-year, however, from 9280 TEU in February 2023 to 6060 TEU in the same month this year – a decrease of 35%.

But overseas container volumes were up 35% from 51,095 TEU in February last year to 69,009 in the same month in 2024.
