FOUR founding members of Ocean Alliance have extended their cooperation for at least another five years.

Chief executive officers at CMA CGM, Cosco Shipping, Evergreen and OOCL signed a memorandum of understanding on 27 February to extend the Ocean Alliance operation co-operation until 2032.

Ocean Alliance was launched in 2017 and covers seven major east-west trades and connects Asia to northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and the coasts of North America.

Ocean Alliance aims to support customers’ supply chains and businesses by offering shipping solutions through a range of served ports, with direct calls and transit times.

CMA CGM Group wants to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and reduce the environmental impact of shipping and logistics.

Its aim is to operate more than 120 containerships propelled with alternative green fuels by 2027.

Chairman and CEO of the CMA CGM Group Rodolphe Saade said his company was committed to working alongside its partners for years to come.

“The decision to extend our cooperation for at least five more years forges our commitment to meet our customers’ needs and build even more secure, reliable, and sustainable supply chains,” Mr Saade said.

“Our diversity is our strength, together we will continue to pioneer our industry.”
