THE Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW), supported by Australian Border Force (ABF), are participating in Exercise Noxium II, a multi-agency maritime capability exercise in Sydney.
The exercise is to run from 25–27 May 2026 and is aimed at testing and strengthening Australia’s ability to respond to incidents involving hazardous and noxious substances in a maritime environment.
It brings together specialist personnel from three agencies to practise the safe deployment of technical teams to vessels, hazard identification, and coordinated multi-agency response arrangements.
This exercise is part of a regular national training program that ensures agencies maintain operational readiness, interoperability, and a coordinated approach to managing complex maritime hazardous noxious incidents.
Members of the public may notice increased emergency service activity on or around Sydney Harbour and Port of Botany on Wednesday 27 May and are advised there is no cause for concern.
