Lloyd’s Register expands APAC offshore expertise with NOPSEMA hire

COMPLIANCE and consultancy services provider, Lloyd’s Register (LR) has appointed Wouter Pattynama as executive client solutions manager, offshore, as it expands its offshore energy expertise and support for clients across Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

Based in Perth, Mr Pattynama brings nearly 30 years’ international experience spanning maritime, offshore energy, and oil and gas. His appointment supports LR’s work with clients operating across offshore oil and gas, renewables, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and other emerging energy sectors.

Mr Pattynama joins LR from Australia’s offshore regulator, the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA), where he held senior executive roles overseeing offshore safety, environmental management and regulatory assurance.

Throughout his career, he has developed expertise across the vessel lifecycle, from design and extension through to decommissioning. In his new role, Mr Pattynama will deliver assurance, compliance, risk management and technical advisory services to help clients improve safety, reliability and operational performance.

Offshore operators are facing tighter international regulation, ageing assets and the need to deliver digital transformation and decarbonisation initiatives. Pattynama’s technical, operational and regulatory experience will support clients as they manage these challenges.

Mr Pattynama said he was joining LR at an important time for the offshore energy industry.
