DEUTSCHE Bahn is putting its Schenker logistics business up for sail, according to a report from Reuters.

An initial public offering and a direct sale were stated as options for the German rail operator to sell the business.

According to the Reuters report, Schenker’s value is estimated between €12 billion and €20 billion. The timeline for the sale could extend into next year.

According to Deutsche Bahn’s first-half of 2022 results, Schenker more than doubled its operating profit compared with the first six months of 2021 to about €1.2 billion. At the time, Deutsche Bahn CF Levin Holle said: “The first half of 2022 was Schenker’s most successful half-year in its 150-year history as a logistics company. DB Schenker played a major role in bolstering the DB’s favourable performance overall.”

DB Schenker’s Australia branch was established in 1962 in Sydney and specialises in international air and sea freight forwarding and integrated logistics services.
