TERMINALS operator DP World has signed a long-term sponsorship with Royal Challengers Bangalore, a cricket team in the hugely popular Indian Premier League.

The deal makes DPW the global logistics partner of a team that features champions such as Virat Kholi, AB de Villiers and Australia’s Aaron Finch.

Under the partnership, DP World will leverage its global logistics experience to support RCB in their logistics requirements.

This follows the Board of Cricket Control for India’s decision to move the T20 tournament to the United Arab Emirates.

DPW chief executive and managing director for the Subcontinent, Rizwan Soomar, said they were “thrilled to partner with Royal Challengers Bangalore”.

“We are delighted that the RCB squad has some iconic players who have incredible records to their credit,” Mr Soomar said.

“Given the added logistics complexities that are unique to this year’s tournament, we at DP World have been able to leverage our global logistics experience to support RCB.”

Royal Challengers Bangalore chairman Sanjeev Churiwala said they were “delighted to partner with DP World”.

“As the global leader in logistics, DP World brings in a lot of experience and value to support us with our logistics requirements, as we prepare to play the tournament in the United Arab Emirates,” Mr Churiwala said.

The tournament starts on September 19 with RCB playing its first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 21.
