ATLAS Air has taken delivery of a freighter aircraft, which it will operate on behalf of MSC.

The Boeing 777-200 freighter entered operation on 11 January and would complement MSC Air Cargo’s existing weekly service, including a route from Hong Kong to Dallas-Fort Worth.

Atlas Air now operates four Boeing 777 aircraft for MSC under a long-term ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, insurance) agreement.

The inaugural aircraft was delivered in November 2022, with the second and third being delivered in July and November 2023, respectively.

“This latest 777 Freighter delivery represents a pivotal moment and significant milestone for our company as it marks the completion of our first set of aircrafts in partnership with Atlas Air,” MSC Air Cargo vice president Anders Matikka said,

“This new and enhanced fleet will empower us to elevate our offering, ensuring enhanced support for our valued clients and a stronger presence in the market.”

Atlas Air Worldwide chief commercial officer and head of sustainability Richard Broekman said delivery of the fourth 777 aircraft marked an exciting milestone for the partnership.

“Since launching our first 777 over one year ago, we have valued our ongoing collaboration with MSC as they continue to grow their air cargo solution for their customers,” he said.

“We look forward to continuing to build upon our strategic partnership.”

The Boeing 777 freighter has a range of 4970 nautical miles (9,200 km) and a maximum structural payload of 107 tonnes, according to MSC.
