Nominations sometimes show decades of dedication, innovation, commitment by those nominated, and all contributions make our Australian industry the way it is.
As always, 2025 was a tight race, but judges awarded 170-year-old company, Halliday Engineering the honours. Among the many achievements, the team at Halliday showed how their efforts had made a direct impact on the industry –expanding in-house manufacturing capability, including advanced welding and heavy lifting, enabling repairs that would previously have to have been performed overseas to be done in Australia.
The company’s adoption of waterjet cutting and specialist welding techniques, meanwhile, were praised for improving turnaround times by 30%.
Halliday said last year it was “an incredible honour to be recognised among so many outstanding contributors to Australia’s maritime industry.
“A huge thank you to DCN for hosting a fantastic evening and congratulations to all the finalists and sponsors who make our industry stronger,” Halliday stated.
“A special acknowledgement to NSW Ports for sponsoring, your ongoing support of innovation and excellence across the sector is truly appreciated.
“This achievement reflects the hard work, dedication, and expertise of our entire team.”
NSW Ports chief executive Marika Calfas said NSW Ports was “proud to support the Maritime Services Award, which recognises the organisations and individuals driving innovation, excellence and capability across our industry”.
“New technologies, evolving sustainability requirements and managing climate risks are priorities for the maritime industry,” Ms Calfas said.
“It is important to recognise those driving positive change and strengthening the industry's future capability.”
