AAT Terminals managing director, Patrick Smith, said the arrival of the BYD Zhengzhou marked an important milestone for BYD – one of AAT’s major national customers – at a time when demand for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles is soaring.

“The arrival of the BYD Zhengzhou is an exciting milestone for our customer, BYD, and a really tangible demonstration of the enthusiasm Australian consumers have for innovative plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles.”

Mr Smith said about 2,000 vehicles would be unloaded at AAT’s Webb Dock West terminal in Melbourne, with the remainder to be unloaded at AAT’s Port Kembla terminal and Fisherman Islands terminal in Brisbane.

“We are extremely proud to be partnering with BYD in this first Australian port call of the BYD Zhengzhou here at Webb Dock West – the only dedicated RORO terminal in Victoria - and to be servicing its subsequent calls at it continues its journey up the Australian east coast,” Mr Smith said.

“As the leading provider of port terminals in Australia, we work hard to build the trust and confidence of our customers, and we’re delighted to be supporting BYD in their growth into the Australian market at this time of real change.”
