West Gate Tunnel and VBS focus of industry forum

OPERATIONS on the West Gate Tunnel and changes to the vehicle booking system at West Swanson Dock will be among the topics for discussion at a forum in Melbourne next week (Tuesday 10 February).

The Melbourne Container Logistics Operations Forum is being organised by the Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA) and the Freight & Trade Alliance.

The session is to run from 10.30am until 12.30pm, the venue being the McKay Room, Yarraville Club, 135 Stephen Street, Yarraville.

Topics include:

  • West Gate Tunnel operations since opening- feedback from freight industry: Transurban & the Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority (VIDA)
  • No-Truck Zones enforcement in the inner west:Victorian Department of Transport & Planning (DTP) & National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR)
  • DP World West Swanson Terminal: Changes to Vehicle Booking System (VBS) and truck arrival process reconfiguration project
  • Empty container park operations: delays at some facilities - freight industry response and liaison with ECPs

Port of Melbourne Operations includes updates on:

  • Port Rail Shuttle Network (PRSN) Start-Up Incentive Program - Expressions of Interest
  • Port of Melbourne Container Logistics Chain Refresh - input from industry
  • Market Site redevelopment
  • Other issues

After the forum, a “limited number” of interested industry participants have the opportunity to visit and view Transurban’s new freeway control centre, covering CityLink and the West Gate Tunnel.
