THE AUSTRALIAN Rail Track Corporation has confirmed the Parkes to Broken Hill line has reopened.

The track is part of the east-west link connecting New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia.

The track has been closed since October last year due to flood damage at 35 different sites.

The ARTC said repair works spanned more than 500 kilometres of track and required 43,500 tonnes of rock and ballast.

It said more than 120 personnel were on site, more than 20 truck drivers carted materials, and the combined hours worked amounted to around 36,100.

The ARTC on Friday announced its plans to reopen the track this week.

It recognised the network is an important part of the supply chain as it enables goods to be transported across the country.
