VICTORIA’S freight and logistics sector will have new ministers to get to know after Premier Daniel Andrews opted to reshuffle his ministry.

This followed the Labor government’s landslide victory in last weekend’s state election.

Former roads and ports minister Luke Donnellan will no longer be seen at industry breakfasts, having been shifted to the Child Protection portfolio.

Jacinta Allan takes on the portfolio of Transport Infrastructure, with responsibility for projects including the Level Crossing Removal Program, North East Link, West Gate Tunnel, Metro Tunnel and Suburban Rail Loop.

New cabinet member Melissa Horne becomes Minister for Public Transport and Ports and Freight.

Jaala Pulford becomes the Minister for Roads, Road Safety and the TAC, and Minister for Fishing and Boating.

Tim Pallas remains as Treasurer.

The government has promoted the fact that the cabinet will have 50% women.

Container Transport Alliance Australia director Neil Chambers welcomed the announcement of the new ministers.

“Importantly, the new member for Williamstown, Melissa Horne, has been given the title of ‘freight’ in her ministerial responsibilities … the first time that a Victorian Minister has had a direct focus on the freight industry recognised in their ministerial title,” Mr Chambers said.

“CTAA welcomes Ms Horne’s elevation to cabinet, and we look forward to liaising with her about the unique aspects of landside container freight logistics in Victoria and through the Port of Melbourne.”
