FORMER Port of Melbourne executive general manager strategy and planning Caryn Anderson has joined Black Quay Maritime Consulting as a strategic advisor.
Ms Anderson, who left the PoM in July this year after almost 12 years with the company and its predecessors, included around nine as an EGM, was appointed chair of the Port of Hastings Corporation, a part-time role, last month.
Black Quay, which describes itself as an industry-leading and award winning provider of advanced port planning and specialist advisory services to our maritime, freight and logistics clients around the world, announced Ms Anderson’s recruitment on Monday [17 November].
“Caryn brings 30 years of domestic and international experience in port strategy, infrastructure planning, logistics, emergency response, and sustainability,” Black Quay director Glen Curry said.
“Her career spans senior executive roles across both public and private sectors, including leadership positions at a number of Australian ports. Her appointment reflects Black Quay’s commitment to sector expertise and strategic execution. Caryn’s leadership will be instrumental as we expand our service offering and deepen relationships with key clients across the region.
“I’m delighted to bring Caryn on board as we expand and diversify the skills and services that we offer to the global ports and maritime industry,” Mr Curry said.
Black Quay’s website says the company has presence in Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom, and its projects span the globe.
“We serve our clients across the world with vigour and passion, be they port authorities, investors & sellers, design & construct contractors, shippers, or terminal operators.
“The company offers unique and tailored skill offerings to the investment and maritime engineering sectors, including port infrastructure needs planning & operational optimization, advanced terminal simulation, trade & demographic studies, fleet forecasting, transaction due diligence, and engineering design services.
“We have been involved in some of the most iconic port development strategies and port masterplans in the world, as well as many of the largest ports and freight related transactions as due-diligence experts, and we have earned a name for ourselves as true innovators in our field.
“We provide strategic and operational port planning for multiple trade type ports, however our specialist skill sets also mean that we are frequently an integral part of transaction teams, working closely to optimize our team‘s positions and provide an edge,” Black Quay says.
