Managing director and chief executive Andrew Harding said the renewal reinforced Aurizon’s long‑standing partnership with one of its most significant customers.
“Close to a quarter of the coal tonnes we carry in Queensland is for BMA and BMA is a very valued customer,” Mr Harding said. “We were awarded this contract in a competitive environment and I believe our consistent, reliable service delivery was a significant contributing factor to our success.”
He said Aurizon’s track record with BMA — spanning more than a decade — had been central to securing the new agreement.
“We are honoured to be awarded this contract and our team will work extremely hard to continue to deliver for BMA and play our role in helping support Australia’s vital mining sector.”
Mr Harding said, combined with other recent customer recontracting, Aurizon had now secured more than 60 million tonnes of annual coal haulage since July 2025, representing all contracts tendered over that period.
